I have always been green fingered but the idea of growing flowers first sparked when I visited a friend who has a cut flower patch on her smallholding. The tranquillity and beauty of being surrounded by so many stunning flowers filled me with joy. As many people, after COVID, I decided I needed a change and to get my hands in the soil. I was lucky to get a job at Gold Hill Organic vegetable farm in 2021, and with Sara and Andrews encouragement started growing a few flowers to sell in their farm shop. Through connections with the farm I heard about this unloved walled garden that needed some TLC. I could see its potential to be a beautiful space so took it on at the start of 2023. With lots of help from my wonderful parents we have turned this beautiful walled garden into a flourishing flower farm using no-dig methods. Everything is grown sustainably with the aim of working with nature to create a healthy, diverse environment without the use of chemicals. I plan on selling my flowers as wholesale direct to florists as well as DIY buckets. As the farm grows I hope to open as a Pick Your Own destination and be able to offer workshops in the near future.
